‘Bone Hauler’ is a 15 track collection that documents the best songs from HAUNTED GEORGE’s vast musical repertoir. All 15 of these tracks were hand picked from the lavish HAUNTED GEORGE songography that he had amassed since the demise of the Necessary Evil. To me, the 15 tracks on this CD are THEE strongest material that HAUNTED GEORGE has recorded to date. All 15 tracks have been remastered from the original tapes and I think ‘Bone Hauler’ prominantly displays an artist that has true and genuine talent.
The biggest thing that seperates HAUNTED GEORGE from many of the other bands in the played out and oversaturated one-man-band genre is that he’s mastered the art of creating a mood. In HAUNTED GEORGE’s case it’s the mood of someone that lives in the old Country N Western days and tells his eerie, morbid tales of living and dieing in the bleak, dark and desolate desert that’s considered home. A theme that Steve can most notably relate to living in the remote, sun soaked, small town of Llano Del Rio. Just take songs like ‘Shotgun In My Mouth’, ‘Ghoul From The Mine’ and ‘Devil’s Canyon’. He sings and plays these songs with such conviction that you start to wonder if he has, in fact, experienced these tales first hand. And the recording style matches the old fashioned time period that HAUNTED GEORGE conveys; sounding like it was recorded many moons ago in a rustic, run down, gold mining town with some ramshackle recording equipment as tumbleweeds are blowing past the reel to reel and scorpions run over his boots.
HAUNTED GEORGE is another fine extention of Steve Pallows rich musical history and ‘Bone Hauler’ perfectly showcases HAUNTED GEORGE’s unique talent for captivating the listener with his introspective, true to life, tales of laggard life in the desert.
